No. 81 Kevin Devine

Kevin Devine is a singer / songwriter from Brooklyn and former member of the indie punk band "Miracle of 86". In all honesty, at first listen his music seems pretty cookie cutter, where he really comes through is in his live performances. He has a great scream during his live show that is non-existent on the studio tracks I've heard. He has some real chill songs, but I'm more of a fan of the tracks where he elevates his voice. One of his influences is Elliott Smith which you can really hear in tracks like "Just Stay".

I'm not still completely sold and would like to catch the full act at Lolla. He does get some points from me since he often tours with Manchester Orchestra. Below is a live performance for the song "Cotton Crush".
